Jesus' Parable and Your calculation
Jesus told the story of a man who stumbled across treasure buried in a field. He sold everything he had so that he could buy the field so that he could have the treasure.
Was that a good move or a bad move? Was it a sacrifice to sell all he had?
The answer depends upon the value of the treasure. If the buried treasure is worth far more than all he had owned before, than it was a good move, and then it wasn't really a sacrifice.
And so the calculation comes to us. How much is Jesus worth?
The disciple concludes that Jesus is such a treasure that we will follow Him no matter what we have to leave behind. ANd because He is worth so much, it's not really a sacrifice.
